Question Do Noobs Exist??

I normally detest people ripping on players for being new. I mean it wasn't too long ago I was new (had the game about two months), and I used to get flamed for not knowing things "I should have". Whatever...

BUT - last night I was looking for a FOW chest run or farming, and found a group who sounded like they really knew what they were doing. Said all the right things, and got some players that were obviously used to doing this(I've only done it once or twice). So the "leader" of this group is ready to go and asks everyone to give him 100G to go in - maybe I'm used to being spoiled, but this was a first, but I figure fair enough and everyone gives him 100g (worried about scamming). Everyone's ready - here we go...

Wait somethings wrong - this is UW not FOW. We ask "WTF - what happened!?" This guy seems genuinely confused - "Isn't this FOW?" People were really upset - because it took a while to get this party together - everyone had keys for FOW, and a few let out the usual "Noob" comments, and either left or just let this guy die.

Than he tells us - "Never did this before I thought this was FOW". People asked for their money back - whatever - he wasn't giving it (Only 100G anyway - it was the waste of time...).

Now I believe this guy actually had no clue, but than why keep spamming for a FOW group if you have no idea what it is.... He was level 20 but should have known to at least know what he was getting a group together for - don't you think>>??

I really don't have the energy to type a post relating to this. But what is this about? Ignorance, spamming for a party to just go to the wrong place? How about just make a fow chest run and go to the right place.

Los Hectorlos, gee gee. To keep his gold I see you haven't been to UW or FOW. Once thr 1 plat is given to the God it stays with him not to the leader of the party, so gathering 100 gold per charcter and going to UW is not taking the plat but just purely wasting it.

Just sounds like a decent mistake to me. I never knew that you had to go to a different statue to get to FoW; I always assumed you'd get a menu come up and you clicked where you wanted to go. Admittedly I wasn't leader of any of the parties when I ventured into UW and FoW the first few times, but its an easy mistake to make I guess.

And no, I don't think there is such a thing as noobs; there's newbies, who are simply new to the game, and then theres jerks, who think everyone else is an inferior noob. But thats just my opinion

Can only make a group up to 8 in ToA. 100 x 8 = 800gp. I wonder who fit the bill for the rest of it

Anyway, he probably didn't know or was too lazy to find out... Asking "Whats FoW?" in local chat or looking it up on the web can go a long way if you really want to know about it... I probably just leave and never do a random group again and stick with guildies

Noobs can be annoying at times, but more often that not a lot more friendly and all round nicer people than leet-hax-who-must-pwn-all people.

the general definition of "noob" is a person who's internet ego is at a sickeningly high level. he or she seems to believe that everyone in the game revolves around him or her, and refuses to listen to advice because they already believe that they know everything about the game.

so yes, "Noobs" do exist. i'm sure everyone's had a moron like that before.

Just because they don't know what a B/P group is doesn't make them a "noob"; it just means they've never heard the term, I myself didn't know what "B/P" was until a few days ago Or at least I think I know what it means...

"Noobs" are as heist23 said...so of course they exist...although I don't call people "noobs" *or* "newbs"; when they ask a question, I don't yell at them incoherently I try to help

Come on, you go on too say that maybe you've been spoiled in that usually you dont have too pay, But you just admitted that it is only your first or second time in the FoW ? So which is it ? The first or second time, and if so how is it that youve been spoiled ?
You joined a newbie group hapens all the time
(it has to, that is life), I have had the exact same thing happen 3 times, yes 3(Ive also made the same mistake read on).
Ive got a few hundered hours in the FoW and probably 20-30 in the UW. Guess what, one day I went to the wrong place, just wasnt really thinking and went to Dwayna, when I meant to go to Balthazhar. So thats 4 times I ended up in the wrong place, and 2 of the 4 times were just gap out mistakes( my one, and another time where the guy just started laughing, and said sorry, lets sui, and go in the right way, he was buying so np,group went on to clear a good part of the fissure.). The other 2 times the people paying just didnt know better first time in I guess, or first time paying, oh well, at no time time did I feel I had to leave the group, some others did, thier choice ? Why come to a forum, and complain about newbies when in actual admitted fact you are a newb yourself. It was a silly/simple mistake I have made myself, and I am sure many other 'experienced' people have as well. Shit happens move on.

"I'm not bringing a rez signet, because... "everyone else is" or "I don't need one" or "DON'T DYE!111!!"

Surprisingly that comes up a lot too.

there will soon be a major influx of noobs to our comfort zone...be aware and be prepared...also, be kind

ok, so there are noobs, and newbs, and whatever other spelling to convey ignorance, arrogance or whatever...but what people must realize is that all ages play this game...thank Anet for that, it appeals to everyone ...so if someone asks a seemingly simple question, just give them a simple answer, dont flame them in local chat...this person might be 6 years old...no need to spread hate to someone whose psyche hasn't fully formed...do you want to be the cause of the next serial killer? think about it

I love it when people show a level of arrogance that far exceeds their intellegence. makes my life considerably easier.

n00b: some jerk who "knows" everything, can't be bothered to explain it, and shows not the least ammount of patience to someone who doesn't understand a specific 2 leter abreviation of an entire group build. All too often, however, these pathetic people are subpar players to boot. The arrogance that feeds their dilusions of superiority also blinds their eyes to the concept that failure could possibly be is in some way thier fault. instead, it's the tanks for overextending, the nukes for not spiking enough, the ranger for trapping instead of bringing interupt, etc etc. In GW as in life, you cannot avoid all the jerks. But you can--and should--try.

As for the poor souls who submitted to the above group and were (very luckily for them) denied? Most of them were probably "newbs" or newbies. The difference is simple. newbs, while lacking experience, can be a valued member of ANY team. They are honest with their shortcomings and open to suggestions. they want to learn how to play better and take criticism in stride (as long as its constructive).

To the OP: its your call as to whether the group leader was honestly inexperienced or was looking for an ecto hunt. This type of discussion always brings out the worst in people (me included; i usually refrain from openly flaming n00bs). the fact that you submitted this topic for discussion makes me question your own integrity; a question that will linger when we meet in forum again. "Is he really that uninformed, or is he just trolling again?" will hang over your head when I read your posts. Your cross and mine to bear now. Keep that in mind the next time you post a topic you already know the answer to.

9 out of 10 times I have no idea what the people in this forum are talking about. Going to wrong places is not such a bad thing, but not refunding money is.
I would say "I learned a lesson for 100G. This will not happen again!"

I think sometimes mistakes happen. Maybe he was just new to the game and just imitated what other leaders were shouting, because he didn't want to wait for a group. I think that's more an inexperienced mistake, rather than him being a noob.

Because in my opinion noob/newb doesn't simply mean "new player" anymore, but rather someone who is ignorant but thinks they know everything, or someone who always full of it and always wrong.

That's just my 2 cents on the issue anyways.
